Local poll shows thirst for real change

6.10.00pm BST (GMT +0100) Thu 22nd Apr 2010

David Rundle has welcomed a poll in this week's Banbury Guardian that shows local people are ready and willing to have a hung Parliament.

The poll in the local Guardian asked the question: 'Would a hung Parliament, with no political party having overall control, be a good thing?' 61% of respondents said yes.

The LibDem hopeful to be North Oxfordshire's next MP, Mr Rundle, commented: 'This goes to show that it's politicians of the old parties who are frightened of a balanced Parliament, not the British people themselves.

'People in North Oxfordshire clearly realise that if we are going to reform and revitalise our country, we can't have one more round of pass the parcel between the two tired old parties.

'The Conservatives are sounding like a spoilt child, arrogantly assuming it's their turn to take charge. A shift between Labour and Tory won't bring real change. It's about time our politics - and our politicians - grew up.'
