Liberal Democrat candidate to be Banbury's next MP, David Rundle, has signed the Royal British Legion Election pledge. The pledge is to improve support for servicemen and women.

David commented: 'One of my first acts as a candidate was to sign this pledge. Whatever we think of what the government tells them to do, we should all show our support for our troops themselves -- for the men and women who do their bit for our country by joining our armed forces. Like many people, I have stood at Remembrance Day Parades, listening to the Last Post and standing in silence to remember the fallen. We need to make sure that memory last not just for one winter morning but throughout the year.'

Kevin Shinkwin, the Royal British Legion's Head of Public Affairs, said: 'We're really grateful to David for pledging to do his bit. The entire Armed Forces family needs the support of politicians from all parties, and our manifesto outlines practical ways the next government can help.'

The Legion's pledge is available on their campaign website: http://www.britishlegion.org.uk/campaigning/the-legion-manifesto
